Passion for travel and adventure, and a love of colour lead Sue to open and run her own fair trade store for 15 years. This provided Sue the perfect excuse to travel to far away places in search of treasures to stock in her store.
It also provided Sue the opportunity to sell her own crafts and artwork, which has helped to shape her practice today.
Sue loves working with acrylics and digitally to create bright, bold and juicy palettes that take the viewer on a journey to distant tropical islands, exotic hideouts and lush dreamscapes.
Her art is inspired by my memories of far away places, noisy tuk-tuks, endless train rides, ceremonies with offerings of flowers and fruit, scented by jasmine and marigold leis. Cobblestoned streets and crowded markets. Exotic textiles, embellished saris in vibrant silks, hand stitched flower cloth and inky indigos. The taste of sticky rice and mango, relaxing in a palm filled sandy bay. Being free to roam.
